Resident Care Director, Jessica Fisher is passionate about serving others and makes it her mission to provide high-quality care for all residents at Arbor Terrace Lakeway. Her dynamic, loving care team makes the community feel like home. Jessica feels strongly about providing an exceptional level of care to all residents as if they were her very own family. Here is what she has to say about why resident care is a top priority.
What is your experience in resident care and senior living?
I began my journey in senior living, 11 years ago in dining services and quickly moved into the care department. I was very lucky to have worked with directors who were passionate nurses, and quickly took me under their wing. This experience truly built the foundation of my passion for educating my staff, caring for my residents, and assuring I continuously educate myself on state and federal regulations. For the past four years, I have passionately served the senior community as a health and wellness director, memory care director, and interim executive director at times. Whether in the military, or in health care, serving others has always been my calling.
What do you love most about resident care at Arbor Terrace Lakeway?
I often tell people that my grandparents are my soulmates, because they raised me and mirrored every positive trait that I can see in myself as an adult today. Without their love, wisdom, life lessons, and compassion, I would not be the productive human that I am. I feel responsible for ensuring that our residents not only have access to a better quality of care, but that it is executed in a way that I would want for my own grandparents.
How does your care team take a positive approach to resident wellness?
Here at Arbor Terrace Lakeway, we have an impressive percentage of staff that have been dedicated to the service of the residents here for eight years or more. This is something that immediately struck me as unique. At the core of this care team is an incredible amount of compassion and ownership for the lives within these walls. I would trust each and every one of them with the care of my loved ones, and even myself down the line.
Why is high-quality care so important for your residents?
Seniors have lived lives rich with experiences. In most cases they have spent a great deal of time caring for others and achieving goals. They have lived through times of war and peace, through good and bad, through ups and downs...and now it is their turn. Our goal is never to take away from them, but to be an addition to the things that give them the best quality of life. Being able to say that they have made it to their "wisdom years" is a blessing in itself, however, thriving in those wisdom years is the goal that we have for every resident here at Arbor Terrace Lakeway.
What is your favorite part about working at Arbor Terrace Lakeway?
From the moment I walked through the front door of this community, it felt like home. The Arbor culture is one that I cannot say enough about, and it starts on day one, all of the way from the top. Our town of Lakeway is a unique one, and it is so refreshing to wake up with a smile on my face knowing that I get to work here. I am just grateful to be a part of such a dynamic and loving care team.
