We have an exciting announcement to make - Arbor Terrace Lakeway has recently welcomed our new executive director, Penny Reider. After nine years at Arbor Terrace, Penny has a proven track record of success. We are pleased to welcome her into this new era and are confident that both residents and fellow team members alike will feel at ease under her leadership.
Penny and her husband Michael of almost 30 years settled down in Kingwood, TX after much time spent traveling back and forth to the UK. A beloved member of our team since 2014, Penny began her journey with us as a Hospitality Director at our sister community in Kingwood Town Center. While there, she diligently worked her way up to the Executive Director position in 2016 and remained in that role until she made the decision to move to Austin to be closer to her children.
We were thrilled she wanted to continue her career journey with the Arbor Company and immediately offered the position of Executive Director at Lakeway, where we are sure she will continue her tenure of outstanding service. When asked about this exciting new adventure, Penny replied, “I chose to move to Austin to be closer to my children – Hannah, who lives in Devine with her husband Sherman and son Thomas, and my son Zack and his girlfriend Zoe who work and live nearby. It is a much shorter drive to come home than to drive to Houston!” She continued. “It is our goal to remain at Lakeway for the next 10 years so that my husband and I can retire in this beautiful part of the country.”
A long-time colleague had this to say about Penny: “When I think of an amazing Executive Director I immediately think of Penny. She has always put her residents' joy and safety at the forefront of every decision.”
In addition to her incredible act of service towards the Texas senior living community, Penny is celebrated for her quick actions during hurricane Harvey, and during the 2020 pandemic, when she held regular meetings with the residents sharing current infection rates in the greater community and gaining their input in the best ways to keep them safe.
Regardless of the ups and downs that have faced her communities, Penny has always led with the utmost integrity, devotion and care. We are sure her time with us here at Arbor Terrace Lakeway will be full of warm memories and strong guidance.
