Centenarian Patrick Conforti was born on November 26, 1920, and raised in Newark, N.J. The U.S. president at the time was Woodrow Wilson, and one of the most watched movies was “Anna Boleyn.” He has been a resident of Arbor Terrace Roseland since February 2014. Patrick credits good gin and wine as his secret to long life.
Upon graduation from Weequahic High School in Newark, N.J., Patrick enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II for three years on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. His rank was Radar Man 1st Class, and he remembers being discharged on Armistice Day in 1945.
Patrick started a home-based business, Air Group, with his son John in 1965 with only $500. Today, Air Group, located In Whippany, N.J., has grown to 340 employees. Patrick’s grandchildren now are also working at the company.
Patrick has one son, John, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. When asked about the technologies, inventions and cultural changes he sees in 2020 that he would have never expected or believed could happen back when he was a young adult, Patrick says the iPhone and television continue to blow him away for news and entertainment.
We are pleased to have Patrick as part of the Arbor Terrace Roseland family.
