Jill Madjuka-Egan brings her direct caregiving experience to her role at Arbor Terrace Marlton. The year she went to college, her grandmother moved into memory care with Alzheimer’s disease, and her father was diagnosed with a form of dementia. Instead of enjoying a typical college experience like her friends, Jill spent the next five years caring for her father. Jill said, “Even if he doesn’t remember, I’ll still remember.”

Now, she helps others in his memory by sharing her experience with residents and their families at Arbor Terrace. “It’s a gift and a curse that I know these things,” she said. While it was a difficult life experience for Jill, she finds the silver lining in being able to share her knowledge with others on this journey.

You can hear more about Jill’s story on the program Don’t Forget About Me - A Walk to End Alzheimer’s, presented by Fox 29 News, in partnership with The Alzheimer’s Association. In addition to Jill’s interview, the thirty-minute program includes research and financial preparation for supporting a loved one with dementia.
