Family, magic and fashion were the key themes of National Assisted Living Week at Arbor Terrace Senior Living.
For Grandparents Day, families of residents took part in a drive-by parade, decorating their cars and honking their horns as they cruised through the community. Residents sat outside and waved as their loved ones drove past. Because of the quarantine, many residents had not seen their families in some time, which made the event extra special.
Following the parade, Arbor Terrace Senior Living put on a magic show with Don Juan the Magician, whose tricks left residents in awe.
Resident William Ford described Don Juan’s tricks as “mind blowing,” while Gerald Moore said, “It was great having something to take our minds off of everything that’s going on around us.”
Another popular activity was the Meet Me on the Runway Fashion Show, in which staff members dressed up and strutted down the catwalk. Residents are accustomed to seeing staffers wearing uniforms, so it was fun seeing them in a different light. The residents cheered as the models took their turns on the runway.
Resident Georgia Jeter said, “You can tell a person’s personality by the way they dress.”
