The grandmas and grandpas who live at Arbor Terrace Naperville were honored with a parade Sept. 13 as the community celebrated Grandparents Day.

Grandparents Day also happened to coincide with National Assisted Living Week this year, and the parade was a festive way to tie the two together.

Families decorated their cars with signs and balloons, and residents relaxed in lawn chairs to watch as their loved ones cruised through the community.

Christopher Dale, Arbor Terrace Naperville’s executive director, served as grand marshal of the parade. After driving through the community in the Arbor Terrace shuttle, he took some time to chat with residents as they sat outside waving and cheering.

The weather was perfect for a socially distanced outdoor gathering, and the parade was capped off with a drive-by from a Naperville fire truck, complete with its lights flashing and siren blaring.
