Phyllis Young

When Phyllis was nine years old, she spent her childhood summers at Camp Mikan in Arden, New York. She enjoyed swimming, canoeing, and playing ball. After manysummers at camp, she later became a waterfront counselor.

After high school she went to Brooklyn College and worked as a secretary at the Lamont-Donerty geological observatory for a scientist who was a micropaleontologist. Later down the road, she wanted to go back to school and get a degree. At 43 years old, she did. She went to Rockland community college for two years and earned her RN degree and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

When her husband became ill, she took a step back to care for him. Phyllis is one of the most caring and selfless ladies. She is such a joy to be around! She comes to almost to all the activities and encourages others as well. She’s always helping out, getting a resident out to lunch or just checking in to make sure everyone is doing ok.

Taking time out of her day to share her laugh with others is one of the many wonderful traits Phyllis has. She's a blessing!
