Mr. and Mrs. Leonard and Dolores Taylor are a wonderful couple who have moved into one of our second-floor apartments. I can’t express enough how much joy and kindness this couple brings to our staff and residents. So far, Mr. Taylor likes to play putt putt golf on our small green by the pool and Mrs. Taylor enjoys attending as many of our musical events and performances as she can. They also regularly attend exercise, bible study, and Billy’s Sunday service, but they look forward to becoming even more involved in all the fun activities we have here at Arbor Terrace.
Leonard was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina, and Dolores was born and raised in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. They both felt called by God to give their lives in service to the Salvation Army, attending the Salvation Army School for Officer Training in 1951 and becoming commissioned in 1952. It was during their service to the Salvation Army where the two evangelists met on a deep-sea fishing excursion. It didn’t take long for them to fall in love and get married on September 14th, 1954.
Through their 68 years of marriage, they have been blessed with four children, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Family is one of the most important things in their lives. In addition to the blessings of family, Mrs. Taylor is a one-time cancer survivor and Mr. Taylor is a three-time cancer survivor. Throughout their time in the hospital, they continued to share the Word of God despite their circumstances.
After their dedicated work to the Salvation Army for 41 years each, they retired in 1994. In their free time, Mr. Taylor enjoys golfing and Mrs. Taylor enjoys nature walks and sending greeting cards to family and friends. It is easy to see this very special light within our new neighbors and it is safe to say that we are very blessed to have them join our Arbor Terrace family!
