We all know how critical it is to stay physically active to remain healthy as we age, but more and more studies like this one by the National Institutes of Health show that staying socially active is just as important.

With 12 recreation centers and 47 parks, there is always something to do in Gwinnett County.
Gwinnett L.I.F.E Program
Three times a year, the county puts out a quarterly Gwinnett Leisure Is for Everyone (L.I.F.E.) information guide to let residents know about classes and other recreational activities going on around the county. The Gwinnett L.I.F.E. guide is available at all of the county’s park facilities and library branches, or you can sign up here to receive a copy by email.
A section of the Gwinnett L.I.F.E. guide is devoted to activities designed just for seniors ages 50 and over. Here’s a look at some of the things you will find.
- Schedules of classes offered at Gwinnett County’s senior recreation centers, Including Bethesda Senior Center in Lawrenceville and Prime Timers Pointe at George Pierce Park in Suwanee, both of which offer spaces where seniors can gather and activities to keep them engaged
- Senior trips to popular area attractions including the King Center, the Fox Theatre, and Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse in Atlanta, as well as the Dahlonega Butterfly Farm
- Senior aquatics classes held at area recreation center pools
- Computer classes designed to help improve seniors’ computer skills
- AARP Driver Safety workshops
- Monthly senior recreation clubs
- Senior game days for games including bingo, bridge, dominoes, and shuffleboard
