We sat down with our cherished resident Jim Stewart for him to share his personal story and his thoughts about life here with us at our senior living community in Canton, GA.
Jim moved into The Arbor at BridgeMill with his beloved wife in 2019. He shares that their need for more help is what brought them to Arbor Terrace. As his wife was living with dementia, and his prostate cancer had just come back, he says he was grateful for how our care staff took care of them and “their every need.”
He shares his candid and difficult journey of losing his wife to the disease almost three years ago. He explains that the loss of such a dear loved one is never easy, and you don’t just “get over it”. We know here at Arbor Terrace that caring for someone with dementia is taxing and emotional for everyone involved.
That’s why we are so glad when Jim shares in the video below that despite his loss, he’s found joy, friendship, and wonderful encouragement here at The Arbor at BridgeMill. Now Living in our independent living area, he says, he enjoys the community of his prayer group, and how he and his friends can laugh and relish in their activities together. He also shares that one aspect he is especially fond of about living here is how “people kind of watch out for each other.”
And no matter what someone is going through or what life path they may be on, he says, at The Arbor at BridgeMill, everyone is here to support one another. “We encourage each other to keep on going, keep going.”
