When the greater Alphareta, GA, community recently came together and contributed to making our environment even more special, it put a smile on the faces of all who call Arbor Terrace home. We had the distinct honor of being the recipient of Kaeli Lawder’s Stars and Stripes Award project, an initiative that brought an abundance of creativity, dedication, and generosity to our assisted living and memory care neighborhoods.

Kaeli’s Vision of Generosity

Kaeli Lawder, an exceptional leader with the American Heritage Girls, devoted over 400 hours to planning, organizing, and constructing a series of thoughtful contributions for Arbor Terrace Crabapple. This heartwarming project included:

  • A mobile cart and crate
  • A bookshelf
  • Two little free libraries
  • A bench

These items were distributed between our assisted living and evergreen  neighborhoods, creating spaces that encourage reading, sharing, and connecting through the shared love of books.

The Power of Community and Connection

Kaeli didn’t undertake this project alone. Over 30 American Heritage Girls and their families joined her for an installation day, during which they organized nearly 1,200 donated books—a remarkable effort that reflects the true power of teamwork and community spirit in Alpharetta!

The mobile cart, a standout piece of the project, was dedicated to the memory of Lee Cagle, one of our beloved Arbor Terrace Crabapple residents as well as an avid reader. To mark this special occasion and honor Lee’s memory, we selected Colleen, a fellow resident, book club member, and former colleague of Lee’s, to officially dedicate the cart and cut the ribbon. This moment of celebration brought all team members and seniors together in heartfelt reflection.

A Legacy of Joy at Arbor Terrace Crabapple

Kaeli’s project perfectly illustrates how thoughtful contributions, small or great, can enhance the quality of life for those who need it most. The little free libraries and bookshelf encourage reading and sharing in our community, while the bench offers a cozy space for relaxation. These additions not only provide practical benefits but also symbolize the kindness of the next generation.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Kaeli Lawder and the American Heritage Girls for their incredible efforts and generous gifts. Projects like this remind us of the strong bonds between Arbor Terrace Crabapple and our beloved Alpharetta, GA,  community, and they inspire us to continue forming bonds that enrich our lives more each day.
