How do you know when it's time to move to an assisted living community in Fort Myers, FL?
Florida seniors should consider moving into an assisted living community when they start to need daily assistance.
For instance, you may need help with personal care, or you may not be able to keep up with your laundry. You may be struggling to keep your home clean or to prepare nutritious meals three times a day. An assisted living community provides all of these daily necessities so you can maintain a worry-free retirement lifestyle.
Who is a good fit for assisted living in Florida?
Assisted living is a great fit for seniors who need extra support or help with day-to-day tasks. Each situation is unique, but there are a few signs that assisted living could be the healthiest and safest decision for you or your loved one.
Regularly feeling unstable or experiencing a recent fall, chronic pain or other conditions that are becoming harder to manage, feelings of loneliness or isolation—especially when you still want to be social: these are all characteristics of someone who would benefit from a move into an assisted living community. If you’re trying to determine if the time is right, give us a call; our team is here to help.
Are assisted living expenses tax deductible?
Some aspects of your assisted living care could be deductible under the IRS’ medical expense tax deduction option. While medical costs of an assisted living community are deductible, living costs, such as monthly rent, are not. Exceptions exist if the resident is in the assisted living community primarily for medical care, in which case, part or all of assisted living costs may qualify for the medical expense tax deduction. We recommend consulting a tax advisor with questions regarding your specific circumstances.
