Meet Dennis Silber, one of the incredible residents of The Arbor at Delray. At 84 years young, Dennis is an inspiration to all of us and reminds us that age is truly just a number. From the moment he first signed on to join our beautiful Delray community upon our official opening, Dennis has delighted our team members and neighbors with his sense of humor, strong leadership of our Men’s Committee, and dedication to planning exciting events that keep residents engaged and involved.

Dennis’ career in manufacturing teddy bears took him to Hong Kong and Beijing, China. But it’s his involvement in the political arena that is perhaps most impressive, a career that led him to operating the Michigan State Fair for 31 years, the Detroit Zoo and many other city parks. One particularly fun fact is that he wrote the legislation for bingo for charities and operated many bingo halls throughout Michigan. To this day, he still enjoys being involved in his golf business, booking up to 2,000 rounds of discounted golf per day at over 80 golf courses across Florida and Canada.

His favorite part of living at The Arbor of Delray? The ability to stay active and healthful, keep busy and feel well provided for, from delicious meals to his favorite activities and events. Dennis also offers some sound advice for those who are considering transition into an independent living community—if you are currently dealing with the upkeep of a home and are living alone, independent living offers you a hassle-free lifestyle where you are free to thrive and expand your social network.

At The Arbor at Delray, sharing what we love most about those we serve is just a small part of the warm and welcoming atmosphere here. That’s because, when you and your family join The Arbor, you become a part of our extended family. And family always deserves the best care possible.
