The Arbor Company has been recognized with a McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Award. Our improved fitness program earned a bronze medal in the Resident Engagement and Recreation category.
The purpose of the McKnight Tech awards is to identify senior living, skilled nursing and home care operators that are working alongside technology providers to offer innovative, cutting-edge programs to residents. These finalists, said McKnight’s Editorial Director John O’Connor, “are showing innovative ways technology can be harnessed to improve care and operations in this field.”
The Arbor Fitness Program combines certified training programs for our fitness staff, with AI-powered fitness equipment to bring an elevated experience in health and wellness to our communities. This winning combination allows residents to feel more at ease with using fitness as a way to reach their personal health goals, and have a tailored program for their unique level and needs. Since the implementation of the program, we’ve seen a significant result multiple areas, including:
- 32% increase in resident participation
- Decrease in UTIs due to consistent exercise and increased hydration
- Increase in flexibility and mobility, and decrease in falls
- Lowered blood pressure and increased weight loss
“Being recognized for these results is a great honor for The Arbor Company and highlights our commitment to serving our residents,” said Kris Frankel, VP of Engagement and Director of Active Aging. “Our primary goal is to help them experience a meaningful and healthy life while residing in an Arbor community, which makes this award truly exciting.”
This year, the program expanded to offer 16 categories. Submissions were judged by an independent panel of 21 long-term care stakeholders. In some categories, winners were chosen by the difference of only a few tenths of a point. The Arbor Company is honored to be recognized by such a competitive group of providers for our service to residents.
